murty can has campers?
hey ya’ll,
well i have a faithful 20 - 30 people checking up on my blog pretty much everyday, so i guess i should really let you know some news.
this is day three of six with my first lot of campers, i have a bunch of seven boys all around the 12 - 13 age. they are a rowdy bunch and i have found it difficult to get them involved in discussion and it makes it really hard when they are meant to be my focus. but thankfully we have a god who is bigger than that. so after praying about it and asking co-counsellors to pray for them and me as well, god has answered. so today, we have just finished bible study and it started off pretty dry because it was more of me preaching to them from a piece of paper. so i decided to go outside and just have them fire questions at me, it took a while to get going, but once they got going they couldn’t stop! so that is really promising and they are all starting to get along well now.
but boys will be boys
majority of my time is spent with my boys but i have some time where i need to be doing other things.
i have been put on the worship team this week, so i am drumming for all the worship sessions. i enjoy this, but the songs are really basic and kiddy, but its for glory of god.
i have also had to do several skits and i have several more to do. i have also had to do a “share”. this is just like a 5 - 10 minute sermon. it is amazing how much you have to rely on god to get you through these things. and he always does, yay god!
camp with kids becomes quite childish, but it is expected. i guess from a directors point of view, it would be hard to train adults in one way, then have them implement it differently with children/teens.
this last weekend i saw three movies at the cinema’s and went out for tea twice.
i saw iron man again (for $3), don’t mess with the zohan and kung fu panda. don’t mess with the zohan is funny, but i wouldn’t watch it again. but kung fu panda was really good and i highly recommend it! we went to tea at perkins, which is like a middle class restaurant chain with pretty decent food. i also went to another mexican restaurant called ‘marcos’. it was a great way to finish off the two weeks of staff training.
i also got my social security card yesterday, so i can do money stuff now. yay!
well i need to head off and practice for another skit now, then work down at the lake during free time, then practice for a mime, then run around for a few hours… wooo!
my love goes out to you all, especially my lovely adele (happy 5 month anniversary babe!)
murty!
p.s prayer for energy; campers to open up; god to move in their hearts; safety of everyone; and that i can remember my skit lines
